Ashley Furniture Employees Make Significant Donation to Le Bonheur and St. Jude Children’s Hospitals

Ashley’s Mississippi employees along with the Chairman of the Board donate over $73,000

ECRU, Miss. – For the fourteenth year, Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. (Ashley) employees, from the company’s Ecru, Verona, Ripley, and Saltillo, Mississippi locations, have made a generous donation of $38,300 to Le Bonheur’s Children’s Hospital. This donation, made possible through Ashley’s “Dollar a Week” program, was raised through employee contributions to support one of the leading children’s hospitals in the United States. In total, Ashley employees have contributed $234,130 toward this cause since 2006.

Ashley’s “Dollar a Week” program also supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Ashley employees raised $24,930 in 2019 toward one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. This money will help pay for children diagnosed with cancer to go through treatment at no cost, allowing the family to focus on their child instead of the financial burden. Since 2012, Ashley’s Mississippi employees have contributed $172,037 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“All of us at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital appreciate the generous donation from the North Mississippi employees of Ashley Furniture,” Le Bonheur President and CEO Michael Wiggins said. “Because of their support, Le Bonheur will offer the best care to every child and family when they need us.”

In addition to these employee contributions, Ron Wanek, Founder and Chairman of Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., and his wife Joyce made a personal donation of $5,000 to each organization.

“We are proud to support both of these outstanding organizations in their efforts to find cures for childhood diseases,” said Ron Wanek, Founder and Chairman, Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. “I am honored by all of our employees who continue this generosity year after year and we hope this gift helps ease some of the burden on patients’ families.”
